Favourite cocktail in Barcelona – Caipirinha 43

While we were working in Barcelona, Jesper and I came across a fellow bartender by the name of Leo who was working at El Bombón. Leo is a bartender from Brazil who came to Barcelona some years ago to work in the European bartender industry.

Coming from Brazil Leo is somewhat of a caipirinha expert, so when it came to recommend a drink that’s exactly what he started to shout. That’s because latino people in the service industry are emotional, and they like to shout – they just do.
Jesper and I had recently hosted a Licor 43 tasting, and since we still felt like mixing some more “Licor Cuarenta-Y-Tres”, we calmed down Leo, and hijacked his beloved Caipirinha. The national cocktail of Brazil (what does it say about a country when they have a national cocktail?), is normally prepared with Cachaça, lime and sugar. But we wanted Licor 43 in there, and ended up substituting a little Cachaça for Licor 43, and doing away with some of the excess sugar, since Licor 43 has enough sweetness already.
It turns out that drink rocks, and it is now officially our favorite cocktail of Barcelona. Sorry Leo…
